英语电影字幕的翻译——以《功夫熊猫》为例

随着社会的发展和人们英语水平的提高，观众对字幕翻译的要求也随之提高，以至于对电影字幕翻译的研究也越来越受到人们的重视。在传统翻译理论的基础上，费米尔提出了的目的论，为字幕翻译的研究开辟了新的视角。本文是从目的论的角度出发，以美国电影《功夫熊猫》为例，结合电影语言的特点和字幕翻译的制约因素，探讨电影字幕翻译策略的使用。通过理论与实践相结合的个例研究，总结出了有效的字幕翻译策略：缩减法，增译法，译文与角色一致，文化意象转换，口语化和潮流化，使用四字格、成语和谚语。通过本文，有助于译者在目的论的指导下，选择合适的翻译策略来不断提高字幕翻译的质量，帮助观众更好地理解电影，同时为中外文化交流做出更大的贡献。

On the Translation Strategies of English Movie Subtitles
 －A Case Study of Kung Fu Panda

Abstract: With the development of our society and the improvement of our people’s English standard, the requirements of subtitle translation have increased. More attention has been paid to the studies of the subtitle translation. This paper lays emphasis on the English movie in Chinese version to analyze the strategies of subtitle translation. On the basis of traditional translation theories, Hans J. Vermeer put forward the Skopos Theory which breaks fresh ground for the perspective of studies on subtitle translation. This paper analyzes the strategies of movie subtitle translation from the perspective of the Skopos Theory. In the meanwhile, this paper combines the theory and the practice to analyze the examples which come from Kung Fu Panda, a famous American movie. According to the characteristics of movie language and the constraints of movie subtitles, this paper states several strategies of subtitle translation, such as simplification, addition, the conformity of the translation and the character, the transformation of the cultural images, colloquial and trend and Chinese four-character phrases, idioms or proverbs. This paper aims to find appropriate translation strategies under the guidance of the Skopos Theory, help the audience gain better understanding of the foreign movies, improve the quality of subtitle translation and make greater contributions to cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.
