试论文学翻译中文化缺省与补偿机制—以《儒林外史》的英译为例

本文以《儒林外史》英译为例，结合关联重构理论，在关联理论的支持下，分析《儒林外史》英译本中的词汇和文化缺省现象，用本文所借用的理论即关联理论来分析对象，本文开篇不仅抛出了文化缺省概念还介绍了译者在文学翻译中应具备的能力。从而指出，在文学翻译中例如《儒林外史》，译者在一定程度上是如何处理文化缺省以及应对策略和补偿机制的，其中英译中对词汇处理的讨论是重中之重，贯穿整个论文。
   本文在关联理论支持下，分析《儒林外史》中的文化现象和英译本中的文化缺省，从而提出文化缺省的具体应对策略，也在这一部集结了丰富文化内涵的中国古典文学中提出文学翻译的缺憾。通过对这种文化缺省形成的缺憾的具体分析，笔者指出在关联理论下译者应具备的语言转换能力以及对文化缺省的适当的补偿方法。

A TENTATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE CULTURAL DEFAULT AND COMPENSATION MECHANISM IN THE CHINESE-ENGLISH LITERATURAL TRANSLATION

    Abstract: The essay takes The Scholars as an example, and analyzes the phenomenon of the cultural default with Relevance Theory on the field of translation and takes words and the culture of The Scholars as analysing targets. The prelude to this essay doesn’t only introduce the conception of the cultural default but also the controlling ability of the bi-lingual language in the literatural translation. The whole essay points out the compensation mechanism of the cultural default according to Relevance Theory in translation.
