英语习语来源及其作用

 英语习语可以使描述对象变的生动活泼，从而为英语这门语言增添一抹美丽的亮色。在写作及交流中使用习语非常普遍。许多人每天都在会话中使用着习语。其实几乎每种语言都蕴含着成千上万的习语，本文将着重讨论英语习语及其来源和作用。习语本身的含义是一组不能以字面意思取意的短语，许多的习语背后都有一个有趣的故事。了解习语表达的形成历史是一个非常有趣且有收获的过程。英语习语已经成为英语中不可分割的一部分，如果不使用习语，英语也会变得枯燥无味，毫无生气。

Abstract
Idioms describe a situation in a vivid and descriptive way, imparting more beauty to English language. It is not a quit difficult task to use idiomatic expressions in writing and conversations. Idioms make English language emotional and vibrant. Many people use idioms very often in their conversations. In almost all languages, there are thousands of idioms. This paper will restrict out discussion only about English idioms and phrases with their origins and functions. Knowing about the history of idiomatic expressions is very rewarding. Many idioms have an interesting story behind their origins. Idioms have become such an integral part of linguistics that avoiding the application of them to the English language will only render the language dry, dull and pedantic.
