【内容摘要】

《唱歌课》的叙事学分析凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德是一名新西兰籍英国女作家,在写作中大量运用意识流、内心独白等现代主义写作技巧,着重描写人物的内心世界。凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德对短篇小说的创作做出来巨大贡献。《唱歌课》是曼斯菲尔德的一篇代表作。本文将主要从叙事学的角度对《唱歌课》这篇短篇小说进行分析。叙事学是一门新兴学科,其理论始建于20世纪60年代。目前,对于《唱歌课》的叙事学分析并不完善,而这篇小说不管从聚焦、人物思想表达方式还是隐含作者等角度来看,都可以成为叙事学研究的很好的范例。本文主要从以下几部分进行分析:
第一部分主要是小说《唱歌课》的研究背景以及意义,主要对凯瑟琳•曼斯菲尔德的写作风格、《唱歌课》的情节以及目前对该篇小说的研究进行了简单概括。第二部分,对《唱歌课》中的两种聚焦模式进行分析,帮助读者在阅读时展开想象,理解小说文本多样的表达方式。第三部分,对《唱歌课》中主人公的人物思想表达方式进行分析,帮助读者更好地理解主人公的思想活动,展现其命运的悲剧性。第四部分,对《唱歌课》中的隐含作者进行分析,更好地理解作者的写作风格。第五部分是本文的结论,对本文进行相关总结。

Abstract: Katherine Mansfield is an English writer who features a great number of stream of consciousness, interior monologue and many other modernism techniques in the creation, mainly exploring the inner world of her protagonists. She made great contributions to short-story creation in Western literature. The Singing Lesson is one of her major works. The paper will analyze the short story from the perspective of narratology. At present, few scholars have studied the Singing Lesson from the perspective of narratology while the short story can be a good case to study narratology regardless of the focalization mode, speech and thought presentation and the implied author.
The thesis mainly consists of five parts. The first part is the research background and significance of the study of short story the Singing Lesson, mainly introducing the writing styles and features of Katherine Mansfield, the plot of the story the Singing Lesson, and the present study of this short story. The second part is the analysis of the focalization mode in this short story, mainly focusing on two types of modes of focalization, the fixed internal focalization and the external focalization in the Singing Lesson. The analysis of focalization modes can help readers better understand the expression and the structure of the text and help them extend their imagination. The third part is the analysis of speech and thought presentation in the Singing Lesson, which still covers the domain of stylistics. The analysis can help reader better understand the inner thoughts of the protagonist and show her tragic destiny. The fourth part is the analysis of the implied author in the Singing Lesson, which shows the writing purpose and skills of the author and better helps the reader understand the social background and deep connotation beyond the text. The last part is the conclusion of the paper.
