论布朗登矛盾的文化身份

  本文分析了《飞越疯人院》中布朗登印第安人兼白人的矛盾的文化身份，探索矛盾的文化身份对他成长、心理和性格所带来的影响。首先，作者对本文的研究意义，中心思想，结构框架做了简要的总结。其次概述了前人有关布朗登这一文学形象的分析。然后作者追溯布朗登苦难的童年，分析印第安人的悲惨历史遭遇对他的成长所带来的多面影响。接下来本文进一步分析两种文化冲突给布朗登所带来的精神痛苦，以及他最终逃离疯人院的原由。最后为结论，强势的白人文化造成了印第安文化与白人文化无法平等交流，这样的情境给拥有矛盾文化身份的布朗登带来前所未有的精神困顿。

Abstract
       This paper concentrates on an analysis of Bromden’s ambivalent cultural identity between white and Indian in Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest，exploring the influence of ambivalent cultural identity on his growing up, psychology and personality. Firstly, it gives a general introduction of the significance of the study, the main idea and the organization of the thesis. And secondly it summarizes some of the previous studies concerning the image of Bromden. Then the paper dates back to Bromden’s rough childhood and intends to explain the negative impact on Bromden’s growth from the miserable Indian history. The following chapter gives a further elucidation of Bromden’s mental suffering brought about by the culture clash and explains the reason for his final choice—escaping from the hospital. The final chapter is the conclusion: an equal cultural communication is broken by the dominated white culture, and under this situation Bromden with an ambivalent identity is perplexed and anguished unprecedentedly.
