Abstract
The Great Gatsby is one of the representative works of the American writer, Fitzgerald. This novel achieved a high artistic achievement, and received many favorable comments. The Great Gatsby give a vividly and accurate description of the American Society in the 1920s. It profoundly reveals the moral and spiritual degeneration of the flourishing urban society. Fitzgerald has criticized the American upper class represented by Tom Buchanan and has given Gatsby infinite sympathy. This paper focuses on the author’s view of morality in his novel. First the paper summarizes the previous studies of this novel, then, it leads to a discussion of Fitzgerald’s view on morality embodied in his novel. This paper has also analyze the morality of different characters
