浅析苔丝悲剧论成因

Abstract
       Thomas Hardy is the most important realistic critical writer at the turn of 19th century,enjoying the unique status in English literature history. In his whole life, he paid much attention to farmers’ life and wrote many novels and poems to show his concern.Tess of D’Urbervilles is no doubt his most influential work in describing the big changes in peasants’s life brought in by the capitalism. The heroine Tess,innocent ,pure and kind-hearted,wants to be independent, pursuing and happy life on her own. However, born in such poor family, heavy burden for supporting the family deprive of her right to enjoy something in her beautiful age; evils powers in bourgeoisie society barrier on her way to get happiness; the limitation of her characteristics restrain her from being strong enough to fight foe her happiness; and some mysterious powers push her t death step by step.These elements are what the author wants to show ,leading to Tess’s tragedy together.

 摘要

托马斯·哈代是19世纪英国著名的批判现实主义作家，在英国文学史上的地位是第一无二的。在其众多的名著当中《德伯家的苔丝》毫无疑问是他最具影响力的著作，作品讲述了在维多利亚时期英国的社会概况，特别是描绘了资本主义入侵后，单体小户农民疾苦的生活及他们在不断摆脱糟糕现状的不懈努力，女主人公苔丝，纯洁善良，追求美好的爱情和幸福的生活，然而单纯的家庭背景，沉重的家庭负担剥夺了她享受青春的权利；资本主义社会的种种黑暗力量容不得她得到幸福；自身的性格的局限性让她处在痛苦的针扎中，无法自拔；自然里冥冥之中神秘的力量不断将她推向死亡的深渊。这些因素正是哈代想要展现给读者的，他们共同构成了苔丝的悲剧。也是后辈读者不断探寻研究的论题。
