《红与黑》中红和黑的对比和符号研究

Abstract
Red and Black was written by Stendhal, it mainly tells about that Julien, the son of a carpenter from the lower class, who was born in the turbulent age. The novel shows his vaulting ambition and undone tragedy. Regarding the title of book Red and Black, Some people say that “Red” is on behalf of the uniforms of the Napoleonic era. “Black” represents the restoration of imperial rule way of monks in the dark night. In fact, “Red” is the unwilling lonely heart of Julien, and “Black” is the dark reality of social in that era, and the warm-blooded humanities were drowned by the dark night at last. So Julien becomes a victim.
The paper can be divided into six parts. Part one presents an introduction to Red and Black. Part two introduces two theories using in the novel. It includes the theory of contrast and symbolism. Part three analyzes the implied meaning of love. By comparison, it compares Julien’s love for two women, one is passionate love, the other is vain love. The article also uses a symbolic analysis of their attitudes of love. Their loves respectively symbolize selfishness, sincerity, affectation. Part four analyzes the real meaning of “Red” and “Black” by the method of contrast and symbol. Part five presents the social effects and enlightenment of the novel. Part six draws some conclusions that Red and Black is not just simply a book which narrates Julien’s two love stories in his short life, but a book shows us that the social system is one of important powers to social members.

摘  要
    司汤达的《红与黑》，主要是描写下层平民一个木匠的儿子于连，在那个动荡的年代，他膨胀的野心和破灭的悲剧。书名《红与黑》，有人说红是代表拿破仑时代的军服。黑是代表王政复古年代的僧侣的黑夜。其实，红是于连那颗不甘寂寞的心，黑则是那个时代黑暗的社会现实，最终黑夜熄灭了人们的热血。于是于连就成为这其中的牺牲品。
    本文的主体分为六个部分。第一部分介绍了《红与黑》。第二部分介绍了小说中使用的两种理论。它包括对比和象征理论。第三部分分析爱情的隐含意义，通过比较的方法，比较出于连对两个女人的爱一个是激情之爱，另一个是虚荣之爱。再用象征的方法分析了三人的爱情观。他们的爱情分别象征着自私、真诚、做作。第四部分通过对比和象征的方法分析“红”和“黑”的真正含义。第五部分介绍小说的社会影响及启示。第六部分得出结论：《红与黑》不仅仅是一本讲述于连一生中两个爱情故事的书，而且要告诉我们，社会制度是社会成员的重要潜在控制力之一。
