On the Influence of Eastern and Western Etiquette on Business Negotiation
Abstract:The etiquette varies from one culture to another. With the economic globalization and frequent business contacts, Eastern and Western etiquettes seem to be a must for international businessman; otherwise misunderstandings may occure, even affect the result of business negotiations. This article begins with the definition and function of etiquette, analyzes the role of etiquette in business negotiation. It also explains some reasons for different etiquette in East and West which have an effect on business negotiation. Finally it analyzes how to deal with the problem of etiquette correctly in the process of business negotiation. Such a standpoint is emphasized: In the business negotiations, negotiators should accept the other’s etiquette, and try to make himself be accepted. This article tells some aspects of eastern and western etiquette in business negotiation. It is believed that a good knowledge of knowing the Eastern and Weatern etiquettes will help negotiators perform a good function in the process of business negotiation.

摘要:不同文化条件下的礼仪也不尽相同。在世界经济日趋全球化的今天,随着国际间商
交往活动的频繁和密切,中西方的礼仪就显得格外的重要,否则将会引起不必要的
会,甚至可能直接影响商务谈判的实际效果。文章从礼仪的概念和功能下手,剖析
礼仪在商务谈判中扮演的角色,并提到中西方礼仪产生区别的原因以及对商务谈判
影响。最后,分析了如何让我们正确地处理在商务谈判过程中出现的礼仪方面的问题。
本文强调这样的观点:在商务谈判中,谈判者应该接纳对方的礼仪文化,并努力使
己被接受。文章从多方面阐述了中西方礼仪对商务谈判的影响。在认识中西方礼仪
相信必定会对商务谈判的成功起到非常大的作用!
