摘要

老舍的《四世同堂》使用奇特的笔法，以整个抗战的历史为背景，以古都北平广大市民的亡国之痛为题材，从人物的各个方面反映被征服者的痛史、恨史、愤史。老舍以委婉有致，从容细腻的笔调，塑造了一个个有血有肉有性格的人物形象，尤其对祁瑞宣人物形象的刻画，无不渗透着老舍大量的心血。一个胸有大志而不得不彷徨的教书匠形象，冷静、理性，有丰富的内在，内敛谦和，洞明时事，虽然总爱权衡，却也有摇摆之后的果决，是个对很多人负责任的男人。在日本的侵略下，每日每时都经历着痛苦和屈辱的境遇和精神折磨的祁瑞宣，善良、正真，具有爱国思想，却又软弱忍从，受着传统文化的思想的束缚；既想尽孝，又想尽忠，因而只得在不能两全的境地中优柔寡断、苦闷不已。
