ABSTRACT
Zeng shu sheng was one of the character in bajin’s work cold night, with a special famine image. She was influenced by the may the fourth movement, a new woman with new thought and new pursuit.The conflict between she and her mother-in-law, the cowardice and recreance of her husband, the social feudal family factor, and her own independence, self-esteem, desire for personal enjoy, Vain characteristics made her left home. Her leaving not only represented the human’s instinct for Pursuing individual freedom and happiness but also had profound significance of anti feudalism and traditional moral.
