商务沟通中模糊语的语用分析

在经济全球化的今天,商务沟通在国际商贸的各个方面承担着日益重要且不可忽视的作用。成功的商务沟通能够促使国际商贸的有序进行,同时也是最需要语言技巧的。商务英语,是商务活动中公认的有效交流手段,在表达上同时具有精确和模糊的特点。特别是模糊语在商务沟通中的巧妙使用,能够有效促成商务目标的实现。模糊语,具有语言的固有特性,在商务交际中有着不可忽视的作用。言语的语用模糊是基于语言使用者的交际意图,服务于一定的语境。在某些情况下,很难用准确语言表述一些事,相反,模糊语的使用恰能传达一定信息,同时提高语言的客观性和准确性。
本文立足于商务沟通中的语用特点,从模糊语言学的理论角度,旨在研究模糊语言在商务沟通中的语用功能。本文对模糊语的阐述,包括在语言运用中体现出了互换性、相对性和等级性的特点,及在使用上主要表现在模糊词汇、模糊限制语和模糊蕴含上。凭借自身的特点,模糊语在商务广告、商务合同、商务谈判和外贸函电中发挥着显著的语用功能,如增强语言表达的得体性,提高语言表达的准确性,增强语言表达的灵活性,提高语言表达的效率, 增强语言表达的语气,提高语言的美化功能,从而顺利达到商务沟通的最终目的。本文由六个部分组成。第一部分简单介绍模糊语出现的背景和运用的意义。第二部分阐述模糊语理论的概述,包括定义,特点和分类。第三部分主要介绍模糊语的六大语用功能。第四部分分析了模糊语在商务沟通中的使用形式。第五部分是对全文的总结。

A Pragmatic Analysis on Vague Language in Business Communication

Abstract: Nowadays, as globalization becomes a fact, business communication is playing a much more important role which cannot be ignored in every aspect of international business. Successful business communication makes processes of business go smoothly, and also needs language skills. Business English, is supposed to act as an effective communicative way in business activities, and has the characteristic of both accuracy and vagueness in language expression. Particularly, the tactful use of vague language in business communication makes a great contribution to achieving business goals successfully. Vague language, is one of inherent characteristics of language, and has a negligible effect on business communication. Pragmatic vagueness of utterances is bound up with the language user's communicative intention, serving a certain context. Under some situation, there is something difficult being expressed by accurate language. While, the use of vague language can exactly convey information, and improve objectivity and accuracy of language.
This paper is based on the pragmatic features in business activities, from the angle of linguistic theory on vague language, aiming to study on the pragmatic functions of vague language in business communication. In this thesis, with the characteristics of interchangeability, relativity and hierarchy, divided into three major types, vague words, hedges and vagueness by implicature, vague language has prominent pragmatic functions in advertisement, business contract, business negotiation and foreign business correspondence, and aims at enhancing appropriateness, improving accuracy, increasing flexibility, raising efficiency, strengthening tone and euphonizing in business communication to realize business goals. The thesis consists of five parts. The first part introduces the background and the significance of vague language in verbal communication. The second part explains the theoretical overview of vague language, including definition, characteristic and classification. The third part introduces six main pragmatic functions for vague language. The forth part mainly analyses four forms vague language used in business communication. The last part comes to the conclusion of this paper.
