Abstract

The old man and sea elaborates Hemingway's philosophy of life: Hunan should confront all the pain and tribulation in crucial social reality and fate bravely and struggle against them. And they should love and cherish life. This philosophy of life is the soul of American social value and it has universal philosophical meaning to all human beings. This paper will explores the image of the old man, reveal the personality of the heroic character, and advocate the spirit of never giving up.
