论尤金·奥尼尔中期实验戏剧中“人”的悲剧与出路

Title : On the Tragedy and Outlet of “Man” in Eugene O’Neill’s Midperiod Drama

Abstract：Eugene O’Neill became the most influential playwright in the 20th century American literary world by virtue of his varied artistic techniques and his writing style of “taking responsibility for the truth. In his mid-term drama creation, O’Neill shows readers the greed of desires in human nature, the ideal desolation and indifference between people through various ways of expression. O’Neill’s pessimisistic attitude towards human nature depends on many reasons. The promotion of various literary trends, the downturn of the social environment ,his complicated life experiences and individual psychological demands have all ended in tragedy, in O’Neill’s writing, the protagonist of the play was rebirth of the soul while physical destruction. And it is the spiritual power from scratch that gives hope to continue to be held in desperation.
