以文献资料法、对比分析法对当今传统武术与竞技武术的关系进行分析。
当今武术的发展问题，主要表现在传统武术发展和竞技武术发展上，而传统武术与竞技武术的发展表现不协调不平衡，武术的发展偏重于竞技武术，传统武术在某种程度上受到了冷落。通过分析传统武术和竞技武术的概念、特点以及各自存在的矛盾。探析了传统武术与竞技武术的相互对立，相互联系，相互统一的辨证关系，以及提倡竞技武术、传统武术与西方体育进一步交流和融合。认为传统武术与竞技武术只有和谐统一的发展才能使武术这一民族文化瑰宝得到发扬光大。
