Analysis of Intentional Ambiguity in Communicationat Lexical LevelAbstract: The uncertain and unclear of language has many forms. The most common one is ambiguity. It has traditionally been regarded as a kind of language misuse, which, however, is a quite limited view of ambiguity. Ambiguity is not good-for-nothing. Instead, it can play an active role in helping people to achieve positive effects on communication. This paper focuses on intentional ambiguity in communication at lexical level. It will also study its various functions in literature works and movies, interpersonal communication and in advertisement on the basis of Grice’s Co-operative Principle. 摘要：语言的模糊性、不确定性有很多形式。其中最普遍的是歧义现象。长久以来，人们都认为歧义是语言的一种误用。其实，这种观点是片面的。歧义并不是一无是处。相反，在帮助人们取得积极的交际效果方面，它起到了很大的作用。本文从词汇角度分析英语交际中的蓄意歧义，并用合作原则分析其在文学作品、影视作品及个人交际和广告中的运用。本文的主要目的是教会人们怎样更好的利用蓄意歧义。
