Emily Brontë’s unique, remarkable novel Wuthering Heights establishes her literary position. It is remarked as “the most peculiar novel”, and some of critics think of it as “Sphinx of literary history”. There remain a lot of mysteries about Emily Brontë and her work. In this thesis, the author takes image of wildness in Wuthering Heights as her approach, through which she analyzes this astonishing novel. From Emily’s obsession of wildness, the development of image of wildness, the influence of image of wildness in the novel and other aspects, the theme can be interpreted and the connotation can be better explained.
