简论约翰•斯坦贝克《伊甸之东》中的诗性语言
摘  要

论文以约翰•斯坦贝克的《伊甸之东》为研究文本，就其诗性语言进行简单论述。《伊甸之东》是美国著名现实主义作家、诺贝尔文学奖获得者约翰•斯坦贝克的一部力作，描写了两个移民家族从美国南北战争直到第一次世界大战结束，长达半个世纪三代人的命运。然而自小说问世以来，国外批评家们对《伊甸之东》的看法却一直褒贬不一，从结构到内容，对作品的评价和争论几乎涉及作品的方方面面。而与此同时，国内给予的评论却寥寥无几。基于国内外研究的现状，本人根据已有的研究资料对《伊甸之东》进行了粗浅的研究，认为斯坦贝克对音乐的爱好以及他深厚的诗歌素养使他在自己的小说创作中有意识地追求语言的诗性特征。《伊甸之东》中的诗性语言主要体现在人物口语的形象哲理性，叙述语言的诗意性以及小说题目的隐喻等方面。它们对于表达作品的宏大主题、丰富小说文本的肌质功不可没。

The Poetic Words in John Steinbeck’s East of Eden
 
ABSTRACT

This paper takes John Steinbeck’s East of Eden as an example, discussing the poetic words in the novel. East of Eden is one of the masterpieces of American realistic novelist John Steinbeck, who is a Nobel Prize winner. The novel describes a story about the destinies of three generations in two migrant families, which is a story dating back to American civil war and lasts till the First World War as long as half a century. Since the publication of this novel, critics from abroad hold different opinions on it, and argue for nearly every aspect of this novel, from its structure to its content. Meanwhile, in contrast to the heated discussion abroad, few critics in our country study East of Eden. John Steinbeck is fond of music and has profound accomplishment in poetry, is in purchase of the poetic quality in his language consciously when he is writing. In his works his poetic words are shown in three aspects mainly, which are the philosophical and vivid spoken language of the characters, the poetic narrative language, and the metaphoric meaning of the title. They play an important role in presenting the grand theme and enriching the content of the works.
