图式理论在英语阅读中的运用研究
摘  要

论文以图式理论为依据,探讨其在英语阅读中的运用。在语言学习中,特别是在外语学习中,阅读教学是听、说、读、写、译五个环节中的重要一环。图式理论就是当前人们普遍重视的阅读理论之一。随着认知语言学的发展,图式理论越来越成为研究的热点。同传统的“自下而上”,“自上而下”的阅读理论不同,图式理论认为理解取决于读者,取决于读者过去的经历和社会常识。文中所理解的东西实际上是在理解过程中所启动的图式作用。读者之所以理解读物是因为他们能把事物透过文字与记忆中已存在的相应概念联系起来。论文旨在研究图式理论原理及其在英语阅读教学中的应用并指出其中的不足。论文首先说明笔者选取该主题的原因和目的,以及研究方法和论文结构;介绍图式和图式理论;论述图式理论在英语阅读中的作用;基于对图式理论的深刻理解,得出把图式应用到英语教学中的原则,并帮助学生激活、构建和加强图式;同时论文也就图式理论在英语阅读教学中的局限提出一些建议。

A Study of the Application of Schema Theory to EFL Reading

 
ABSTRACT

Basing on schema theory, the paper investigates its application in EFL reading. In EFL teaching and learning, reading is the one of the important of the five basic skills. Schema theory is one of the prevailing reading theories currently. With the development of cognitive linguistics, schema theory has become the focus for research. Different from the traditional reading theories of “bottom-up” and “top-down”, schema theory describes the process by which readers combine their own background knowledge with the information in a text to reach a better comprehension of the text. This paper aims to study the application of schema theory to EFL reading and point out its limitations. Firstly, the paper provides a brief introduction, which puts forward the main idea of this paper. Furthermore, it analyzes schema and schema theory and discusses the function of schema theory in English reading comprehension. It also claims that reading is not only a process of learning how to read and how to interpret, but also a process of interacting between psychological factor and background knowledge; based on a profound understanding of schema theory, the teaching principles have been derived to guide the application of schema theory in teaching EFL reading and helping students to activate, construct and review the schema; meanwhile, giving some solutions and suggestions of applying schema theory in reading teaching.
