英语专业本科生词汇学习策略调查
摘  要

词汇学习策略是指词汇学习过程中所采用的一般方法和特殊行为或技巧。基于前人研究结果,论文通过以问卷调查和访谈拟调查研究一所理工科大学不同年级的112名英语专业学生使用词汇学习策略的情况。通过分析问卷调查结果,并结合访谈相关内容,研究发现:(1)该校英语专业大部分学生都认为学习词汇非常重要并且很难。(2)绝大部分学生都使用了词汇学习策略学习词汇。(3)学生使用的策略有:记忆策略、认知策略和元认知策略。(4)大部分学生都认为词汇策略的使用有利于词汇学习。(5)不同年级的学生对词汇学习策略的使用呈现一定的规律性:总体而言,高年级学生更多的采用元认知策略,而低年级学生则更多地使用记忆策略。研究认为为提高该校英语专业学生词汇学习,英语教师在课堂教学中应对学生进行明确的词汇学习策略培训。同时,应增强学习者自主学习能力。希望通过这次研究能对词汇学习提供一些参考,以进一步提高词汇教学质量和词汇学习效率。

A Survey of Vocabulary Learning Strategies of English Majors
 
ABSTRACT

Vocabulary learning strategies refers to both general approaches and specific actions or techniques used to learn vocabulary. This study investigates the use of vocabulary learning strategies (VLS) by the English majors in a science and engineering university by adopting a questionnaire and interview as the instruments. Altogether 112 English majors in different grades have been involved in the present study. An analysis of the data collected found that:
(1) Most of the English majors think that to master vocabulary is important but difficult;
(2)English majors use some VLS in vocabulary learning.
(3)They adopt memory strategies, cognitive strategies and meta-cognitive strategies in vocabulary learning.
(4) Most of the English majors think that VLS are effective to their vocabulary learning.
(5) Students in different grades have different preference in the adoption of VLS:Generally speaking, more students in higher grades often use the meta-cognitive strategies, and students in lower grades tend to use the memory strategies.
The study suggests that to improve vocabulary learning of English majors, the teacher should provide them with explicit strategies training in classroom teaching. Furthermore, learner autonomy should be cultivated. It is hoped that the present study will contribute to the studies of vocabulary learning and enlighten English teaching.
