试论英语专业学生如何突出专业优势
摘  要
随着非英语专业学生英语水平的不断提高，英语专业学生面临的挑战越来越大。为了突出英语专业人才的专业优势，作者认为，英语专业学生在具备较强的语言能力的同时，也应该具备较强的跨文化交际能力和专业技术能力。为提高跨文化交际能力，作者认为，可以通过开设中西文化课程的方式让英语专业学生精通中西文化，熟知中西文化差异。市场就业压力迫使英语专业学生在培养语言能力、跨文化交际能力的同时，还需掌握一定的经贸、法律、外交、国际新闻、金融、科技等方面的专业技术知识，即采取“英语+X”的培养模式，以提高学生的市场适应能力。开设相应的必修课、选修课、考取相关职业资格证书等都是可行的选择。

On the Ways to Develop Professional
Advantages of English Majors
 
ABSTRACT
With the great improvement of English language competence for non-English majors, the challenges that English majors face have become more and more severe. To develop the professional advantages of English majors, the author thinks that English majors should have sound intercultural communicative competence, professional and technological competence as well as language competence. To develop English majors’ intercultural communicative competence, ways like setting up courses on Chinese and foreign cultures should be taken so that English majors can be proficient in both Chinese and foreign cultures, and be well-informed of the cultural differences between China and foreign countries. Besides, the job market has forced English majors to aquire professional and technological knowledge in such areas as trade and economy, law, international affairs, international journalism, finance, science and technology, etc., that is to say, the teaching mode of “English + X” should be adopted. Setting up relative compulsory and optional courses, taking exams on relative vocational qualification certificates, etc., are all feasible choices.
