浅析《德伯家的苔丝》中托马斯•哈代的悲剧意识
摘  要

论文主要分析了《德伯家的苔丝》中哈代的悲剧意识。小说于1891年问世以来，许多评论家已从多个角度对其进行了研究，有的分析女主人公苔丝的悲剧命运，有的解析哈代的宿命思想。在以上专家和学者研究的基础上，论文通过考察小说女主人公苔丝的悲剧命运、哈代悲剧观的成因及他的写作技巧，对哈代的悲剧意识进行了较全面的分析。文章从当时的社会环境、苔丝自身性格及偶然性三个方面入手综合分析了酿成苔丝悲剧的原因。着重探讨了哈代悲剧意识形成的因素，即当时的社会意识形态、哲学观念对哈代的影响和哈代的自身经历。对有效表现哈代悲剧意识的写作技巧也进行了深入探究。对哈代悲剧意识的研究有助于阐释苔丝悲剧命运的必然性，同时也将对欣赏、评价这部伟大的悲剧起到一个推荐作用。

A Study of Thomas Hardy’s Tragic Consciousness
in Tess of the d’ Urbervilles

 
ABSTRACT
This thesis attempts to analyze Thomas Hardy’s tragic consciousness in Tess of the d’ Urbervilles. Since the publication of the novel in 1891, critics have done lots of studies on it from various aspects, analyzing Tess’s tragic fate, Hardy’s fatalism and so on. On the basis of the efforts of former researchers, this thesis attempts to explore Hardy’s tragic consciousness by analyzing Tess’s tragic fate, the formation of Hardy’s tragic vision and Hardy’s writing techniques. It firstly studies the main causes of Tess’s tragedy from three aspects: social environment, Tess’s character and coincidental events. The author focuses on the research of factors underlying Hardy’s tragic consciousness from contemporary social circumstance, impact of philosophic thoughts upon Hardy and Hardy’s life experiences. Writing techniques as vehicles for Hardy’s tragic consciousness in the novel are further probed into. The study of Hardy’s tragic consciousness is of significance to the interpretation of the inevitability of Tess’s tragic fate and will offer an access to the evaluation of such a mighty tragedy.
