Abstract: Ernest Hemingway is thought to be one of masters who master in modern narration. In the creation of his novel In Another Country, the way of narration he dealing with has a strong ironic tension by using concise languages perfectly. And this literary style which is employed in this novel mainly includes three aspects: the use of irony in expressing the theme, the use of irony in portraying characters, the use of irony in construction of structure.

摘要：海明威是公认的精通现代叙事艺术的大师之一。在他的小说《在异乡》的创作中，海明威运用平易简单的英语词汇和语句巧妙的处理叙述语言，完美地组合起了具有很强张力的“反讽”叙述语式。其对于反讽的使用主要体现在三大方面：一、运用反讽表现主题；二、运用反讽刻画人物；三、运用反讽推动情节发展。
