论文探讨新闻英语标题的文体特点，以帮助读者构建认知语境，实现成功的阅读。新闻标题是新闻中最重要的组成部份,它总结新闻的主要内容,以便读者一目了然,确定是否继续阅读。新闻标题是新闻报道的灵魂，以高度精炼的文字告诉读者新闻要点。因此，明晰、简洁、新颖、鲜明、形象是英语新闻的主要特点。由于文化语境不同，加之话语语境和情景语境的随时出现,读者在阅读新闻英语时出现各种理解上的困难。了解新闻英语标题语言特点及其在认知语境中的具体应用,不仅能帮助新闻写作者提高标题写作水平,而且还能帮助广大英语阅读者更好地理解新闻内容,欣赏其语言艺术之美。

The Stylistic Features of News Headline
and Its Reading in Cognitive Context
 
ABSTRACT
This thesis will detect the stylistic features of news English headline in order to help the readers build up the cognitive context and understand the news headline in cognitive context. News headline, the fundamental part of any piece of news, informs readers of the main idea of the news, determining readers’ interests to read on or not. Generally speaking, it should be not only concise and clear, but also accurate and eye-catching. The language of news English is very special and differs a lot from other styles of writing. With different cultural context, including linguistic context and situational context, the readers often have some difficulties in understanding news English. Thus, to know the stylistic characteristics and combine these features with its cognitive context in reading News English would help readers to understand news better and enjoy the beauty of news language.
