《格列佛游记》对理性的反思与批判
Reflection and Criticism on Rationalism in Gulliver’s Travels
 
Abstract: This paper first gives a brief introduction of Gulliver’s Travels and rationalism. It then explores the social and historical background of the novel, the Age of Enlightenment， and its influence on people’s ideology. It then elaborates the core values of the Age of Enlightenment, the worship of rationalism, as well as its four manifestations. It then discusses Jonathan Swift’s reflection and criticism on rationalism by examining Gulliver’s travelling experiences. It finally makes a conclusion on Swift’s views of rationalism and points out its significance.

摘要：本文首先简单介绍了《格列佛游记》和理性主义；接着探讨了小说的社会和历史背景：启蒙时代，及其对人们思想意识的影响; 然后阐述了启蒙时代的核心价值观“理性崇拜”，以及理性崇拜的四种体现; 接着通过对格列佛航行经历的观察审视，讨论了乔纳森•斯威夫特对理性的反思与批判；最后对斯威夫特的理性主义观作了总结并指出了其意义。
