谈谈英语习语的汉译

摘要：英语习语是语言中的精华,是语言不可分割的一部分,它承载着极为丰富的文化内涵，本民族的风土人情与历史文化，体现了鲜明的民族特色。其表现形式往往丰富多彩，简洁明快，寓意深刻，深受人们喜爱。但英汉两种语言的发展状况，语汇特色的各不相同，以及它们的形成过程，修辞价值等两相悬殊，这些必然会给习语的翻译带来巨大的困难。
本文就英语习语的起源与发展，语言特征，中英两国的文化差异几个方面进行了分析，就英语习语的常用翻译方法：直译，意译，直译与意译的结合，同义语借用法，直译加注法，音译加注法六种方法进行了简略探讨，同时也指出了在习语翻译中所应该注意的几点。试图通过对英语习语汉译的分析，指出英语习语所蕴含的历史语言文化特色，阐明恰当的翻译所带来的语言效果魅力和威力，实现真正的跨文化对话和交流。

The Translation of English Idioms into Chinese 
Abstract: English idioms are the essence and inseparable part of languages, which carrying rich cultural connotation, national customs, history and English culture, completely reflecting the distinctive national characteristics. Usually, their forms are rich, structures are succinct and vivid and allegories are profound, which are loved by people much. But the developmental conditions of the English-Chinese idioms and their linguistic characteristics diverse from each other. And they also vary from each other in the establishments and rhetorical value. All of those elements will inevitably bring great difficulty to the translation of English idioms into Chinese.
This paper mainly studies and analyses the English idioms in terms of its sources, development, linguistic features and the cultural differences between English and Chinese. It discusses about six usual methods of translation of English-Chinese idioms: literal translation, free translation, combination of literal and free translation, equivalent translation, literal translation with notes and transliteration with notes. At the same time, it also points out several essential opinions on idiom translation. The paper attempts through the analysis of translation of English-Chinese idioms ,points out the linguistic cultural characteristics in history that English idioms contained, and indicates appropriate translation would bring amazing linguistic glamour and power to readers to realize the real cross-cultural communication.
