The Contrast and Affinity of Two Sisters’ Characters in Sense and Sensibility

Abstract

This paper focuses on the contrast and affinity of two sisters’ characters presented in Sense and Sensibility. It’s mainly divided into five parts. First the paper introduces the author and the book. Second, it describes their contrast and affinity aspects, the two sisters’ characters in different fields in detail and pursuing same happy marriage. Then it comes to the keeping balance between sense and sensibility. It is concluded that Austen's perspective is still applied to the modern life, especially to marriage. More than that, to balance between sense and sensibility and to guide sensibility by sense is worth learning.

本文主要讨论《理智与情感》中姐妹性格所呈现的对立与统一性。首先文章主要从五个方面论述这一特点。首先本文对作者和这本书做了介绍。其次，描写了姐妹性格的对立与统一性，即在性格方面的对立和追求幸福婚姻上的统一。然后文章论述了保持理智与情感之间的平衡。文章指出奥斯丁的观点特别是婚姻观同样适用于现代生活。更值得我们学习的是,我们应该寻求理智与情感的平衡，用理智来指导情感。
