 ANALYSIS STUDY ON ENGLISH AFFIX KNOWLEDGE AND VOCABULARY SIZE:THE CASE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HANGZHOU NEW ORIENTAL SCHOOL

Abstract: Vocabulary has always been an important aspect for language researchers. They have carried out a lot of study on vocabulary size, lexical meaning, word formation, etc. However, little attention is paid to affix acquisition, especially the order of affix acquisition, including prefix order and suffix order both receptively and productively, and the relationship between affix knowledge and vocabulary size. In this study, I will investigate into the above issues based on an empirical study.

摘要:词汇研究一直以来都是词汇研究者的一个重要领域。他们已经在词汇量、词汇含义及构词法等方面作出了很多的研究,然而,对于词缀习得,特别是词缀习得顺序及词缀知识和词汇量关系的研究却十分匮乏。基于实践研究,我将在论文中深入分析以上问题,特别是接受性前缀及后缀和产出性前缀及后缀的习得顺序。
