游苔莎悲剧命运的成因

  《还乡》是托马斯•哈代的“性格与环境小说”中具有代表性的一部作品。本文分三个部分对小说中造成女主人公游苔莎的悲剧命运的原因进行分析。第一部分主要分析环境对其悲剧命运的重要影响。第二部分着重分析游苔莎的性格难以融入她身处的环境，这是她走向悲剧的关键因素。第三部分所分析的婚姻因素是促成其悲剧命运的重要事件，对爱情不切实际的幻想使她最终走向悲剧。因此，她必定会被荒原和她所处的社会所抛弃，她的悲剧命运也是不可避免的。

Abstract

The Return of the Native is one of Thomas Hardy’s “Novels of Character and Environment”. This paper is composed of three parts. Part one analyzes the important influence to Eustacia’s tragedy from the environment. Part two introduces that her character is difficult to adjust to her environment, which is a leading factor to her tragedy. In the third part, marriage is an important event which causes her tragedy. The unrealistic fancies to love eventually lead to her tragedy. Thus, she is certainly to be abandoned by the heath and that society and her tragic fate is inevitable.
