On Sexual Discrimination in English Language

Abstract: This thesis making it clearly on the basic of what is language sexism, summarizes the phenomena of sexual discrimination in English. By using universal evidence, they are shown and discussed in two aspects: English words and English proverbs. With the specific examples, it reveals the English characteristic in the milieu of sexual discrimination completely. Lastly, the thesis introduces several feasible language strategies to erase the sexual in English language. Correctly understanding the phenomena of sexual discrimination can improve our sensitivity of sexual discrimination in English and the English application ability. It will help people comprehend the language sexism clearly. With the progress of human society and civilization as well as the people's attention to sexism language, the social phenomenon of sexual discrimination will gradually be weaken and even completely eliminated to realize the social equality and harmony finally.
