基于功能对等理论英语广告标语的意译

鉴于广告的普及性,在翻译领域,研究广告标语的翻译也变得越来越重要了。本文主要引入奈达的功能对等理论来指导英文广告标语的翻译,并进而归纳出应用意译法翻译英文广告标语的实用性。
本文首先简要介绍了英文广告,同时对广告标语的定义、功能、及特点进行了阐述。其次介绍了奈达功能对等理论的主要论点。再次介绍了意译的定义和特点。然后探讨了基于功能对等理论英文广告标语的意译,用例证的方法来进一步说明英文广告标语意译应达到两个层次的对等,即语言层次的对等和文化层次的对等。最后综述了本文所进行的研究,客观评价了研究成果,并指出了论文的不足之处和改进方向。

Research on Liberal Translation of English Slogans Based on Functional Equivalence Theory
Abstract
Due to the popularity of English advertising, the research on liberal translation of English slogans has taken on greater importance in the field of translation studies. This thesis aims at introducing Nida’s functional equivalence theory to guide the translation of English slogans. Moreover, it sums up the effectiveness of the liberal translation of English slogans.
This paper is composed of five chapters. Firstly, a brief introduction of English advertising is given, and the definition, function and features of slogan are presented. Secondly, Nida’s functional equivalence theory is introduced as theoretical basis. Thirdly, the definition and requirement of liberal translation are explored. Fourthly, liberal translation of English slogans based on functional equivalence theory is discussed, and many examples are cited to further argue that functional equivalence could be achieved at two levels in liberal translation of English slogans, namely, linguistic level and cultural level. In the end, findings and suggestions are given.
