分析《雾都孤儿》中的孤儿形象

本文意在分析《雾都孤儿》的主人公——奥利弗•退斯特的性格特点，揭示狄更斯作品中的孤儿形象与维多利亚时代的孤儿群体之间的关系。
具体来说，本文第一部分将简介作者的生平和《雾都孤儿》的内容来勾勒小说的创作背景。第二部分为本文的重心所在，探讨奥利弗•退斯特的善良、勇敢、反抗、正义、感恩、渴求关爱等特征，具体勾勒分析孤儿形象。第三部分在第二部分的基础上，探讨奥利弗形象的形成与作者个人经历、时代背景和作者对社会现实的态度这三方面的关系。第四部分为本文的结语，通过透射奥利弗这一孤儿形象与维多利亚时期的孤儿群体之间的扭曲映照关系，为全面地理解批判现实主义提供一个新的维度。

Abstract

     This paper explores the image of the protagonist of Oliver Twist, intending to analyze thoroughly his characteristics so as to reveal the relationship between Dickens' orphan and orphans in Victorian era.
     Generally, the paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces briefly Charles Dickens and the novel Oliver Twist to build up the context. The second part, as the main body, deals with Oliver Twist's characteristics in the novel, including his goodness, courage, rebellion, justice, gratitude and his longing for care and love, analyzing in detail the image of orphan in Dickens’ work. Based on above, the third part further studies the relations among Dickens’ creation of the Orphan image, his personal experience，his social attitudes and the phenomenon of orphan in Victorian era. In conclusion, the fourth part of the paper reveals the twisted reality of the relationship between Dickens' orphan and orphans in Victorian era, shedding light on a new interpretation of critical realism.
