Abstract

This paper analyses the social gender view in that period through Sense and Sensibility.
In order to better support this thesis, this essay is divided into five parts. The first part is a brief introduction to the author and the novel; the second part is an analysis of the view of gender role to describe the responsibilities and division of labor between men and women in British; the third part makes an analysis of the requirement and boundary on women through the notion of “angle in house”; part four is the effect of such view of gender role; and the last part is a conclusion with a restatement of thesis.
