从成长小说角度解读《追风筝的人》

《追风筝的人》是阿富汗裔美籍作家卡勒德•胡塞尼的第一部小说，出版于2003年。它是美国文学史上最受欢迎和备受推崇的小说之一，这本小说自出版以来几乎囊括了英语世界的所有文学新人奖。它同时是一部典型的美国成长小说。成长小说讲述的是主人公经历的人生大事给自己的人生带来改变的一种小说类型，通常主人公在这些经历中变得成熟起来。
 《追风筝的人》描述的是一个阿富汗男孩背叛了自己的兄弟，而在美国生活多年后进行自我救赎的一个故事。本文旨在从成长小说的角度分析主人公的救赎旅程和成长经历。本文由五部分构成：第一和第二章主要介绍了作者、这部小说以及成长小说的一些基本知识。 第三和第四章主要论述小说中的背叛与救赎。最后一部分对这篇论文进行了总结。

An Analysis of The Kite Runner from the Perspective of Initiation Story

Abstract

The Kite Runner, the first novel of the Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini, was published in 2003. It is one of the most popular and highly regarded novels in the American literature. The story has won almost all the prizes for new stars in literary creation in English-speaking countries after its publication. It is also a typical initiation story in American literature. Initiation story is one kind of literal articles --the protagonist undergoes a life-changing experience and usually the character is a young person who gains a measure of maturity from the experience.
The Kite Runner tells a story about an Afghan boy who betrays his half-brother and makes his redemption after living in America for many years. This thesis tries to analyze the character’s redemption journey and growing experience from the perspective of initiation story. This thesis consists of five parts. Chapter One and Two give a brief introduction of the author, the novel and some basic knowledge of initiation story. Chapter Three and Four mainly discuss the betrayal and redemption in the novel. The last part makes a conclusion of this thesis.
