人性善的讴歌—查尔斯•狄更斯作品中的人物分析

狄更斯是19世纪批判现实主义的奠基者。《雾都孤儿》和《远大前程》为其典型的代表。狄更斯的伟大之处在于他在这两本小说中创作了不同性格的人物，刻画得栩栩如生。但是最成功之处还是在于他刻画的善良的主人公奥立弗；邪恶中透着善良的女贼南茜；为前程而虚荣但最终回归朴实的皮普；还有可怜的艾斯黛拉。奥立弗天生就是一个有道德的人，懂得知恩图报；南茜因为生活所迫和对爱情的执着，使她堕入贼窟，但她本人却有着向善的心；皮普只是因爱而变的虚荣，但依然保持着善良的本性；获得情感释放的艾斯黛拉才是真正的自己。本文旨在分析这几个人物的性格，深入挖掘作者的创作意图，最后得出善良是人性中不可或缺的一部分。只有始终如一的坚持善良的品性，才能得到幸福。

---Analysis of Characters in Charles Dickens’ Works

Abstract

     Dickens is one of the founders of critical realism in the 19th century. Oliver Twist and Great Expectations are his masterpieces. The greatness of Dickens lies in the fact that he creates several vivid and lively characters of different personalities. But the most well-known and successful thing is that he created the typical and symbolic characters, such as the good and honest Oliver, he is born a person of morality who know how to thank others for their helps. The character of Nancy is of the quality of kindness which is reflected on her evil, fell into the hands of thieves’ den for the living and love, but she has the tendency to become a kind-hearted person. Pip became vanity just because of love, but he still keeps a good heart. After releasing of emotions,Estella get a better future. This paper attempts to analyze the different personalities of these characters and research further on the intentions of creating these characters. Finally, the author indicates that the kindness is an indispensable part of human nature, and only when a person is consistently kind can he gain happiness.
