Abstract

Carrie Sister (1900) is one of the most important novels by Theodore Dreiser, who is a realistic writer. The thesis begins with the origin of the American Dream and Marslow’s definition of it, which shows readers the original meaning of the American Dream. The next chapter are research in China and research abroad. Finally it tells what Carrie’s American Dream is in three different stages and the influences of Feminism and Consumer Culture on Carrie’s American Dream..
