艾丽丝•沃克是当代美国文坛上最著名的黑人女作家之一，她是一名女权主义者，一生致力于争取种族平等和妇女解放。黑人妇女问题一直是沃克关注的焦点。沃克的小说作品《紫色》在1983年获得了普利策小说奖，她是第一个获得该奖项的黑人女作家。本文意在阐述小说《紫色》中体现出来的艾丽丝•沃克的妇女主义理论。本文分为三部分：第一部分为导论，简述了了艾丽丝•沃克及其作品《紫色》。第二部分由三章组成，第一章主要介绍艾丽丝•沃克的妇女主义理论，第二章主要考察了黑人妇女所受的双重压迫，第三章展现了女主人公的觉醒和转变。第三部分是全文的总结。

Womanism in The Color Purple
Abstract
Alice Walker is one of the most famous black female writers in the contemporary American literature. She is a womanist. She takes her whole life fight for the racial equality and woman’s liberation. Alice Walker always focus on the problems of American black women. In 1983, her novel the color purple won the Pulitzer Prize, and she is the first one who gets such honor as a black female writer. This thesis intends to explore the mental development of the protagonist Celie in light of womanism advocated by Walker. This thesis includes three parts. Part one gives a general introduction to Walker’s life experience and The Color Purple. Part two includes three chapters. Chapter one introduces Walker’s womanist theory. Chapter two analyzes the double oppression of black women. Chapter three focuses on Celie’s awakening and transformation. Part three is conclusion.
