论《远大前程》皮普的性格形成原因

Abstract

In the novel, great expectation is a paradox. It does not really mean that the orphan has a bright future. Pip’s great expectations realize its real meaning after Pip changes from a selfish and vain boy to a boy cherishing sympathy for others.
To support the thesis, the paper is divided into three parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to both the author and the novel. The second part makes an analysis of the reasons for the formation of Pip's character, which include the influence of the environment, the people around and Pip himself. The third part is the conclusion, restating the thesis of the paper.
