从父子冲突角度看《推销员之死》

摘要:  阿瑟•密勒是自二战以来美国最重要的现实主义剧作家之一，他的代表作之一《推销员之死》于1949年在纽约首演成功后，震惊了整个美国戏剧界。本文抓住父子冲突这个角度，从父子冲突的根源及其反映的现实意义分析《推销员之死》的主题及悲剧性。本文就《推销员之死》中父子冲突的根源展开分析，其中包括对美国梦的不同理解，教育模式的失败以及威利与妻子琳达的关系，本文还从大萧条，现实腐化的社会价值观等角度解析该剧反映的社会意义,由此进一步揭示该剧中所深藏的悲剧主题。

The Conflicts between Father and Son in Death
of a Salesman
 
Abstract: Arthur Miller is one of the most important postwar realist playwrights in the United States. In 1949, Miller wrote Death of a Salesman, which won the Pulitzer Prize and transformed him into a national sensation. This paper analyzes the conflicts between the father Willy and the son Biff. The paper focuses on the father-son conflicts in the play and analyzes the causes of the father-son conflicts, including the different understandings of the American dream, the modes of education, and Willy's attitudes toward Linda. This paper also explores the realistic significance of the tragdy from the perspectives of the Great Depression and corrupted social values, with the purpose to further reveal the tragic theme of this play.
