探究《红字》中色彩的运用及其效果

纳萨尼尔•霍桑是美国十九世纪杰出的浪漫主义小说家，其代表作长篇小说《红字》自1851年出版以来，便赢得人们从不同的层面进行研究，但从色彩的视角研究《红字》的论文还比较少。实际上，色彩的运用在《红字》中十分突出并取得了良好的艺术效果，对于刻画人物的心理和情感表达具有重要的作用。笔者试图从色彩的美学作用角度出发，去探讨《红字》中的色彩如红色、黑色、灰色、金色以及颜色组合的应用，分析色彩在主人公的心理活动的展现、文章主旨的表达以及人物形象的塑造等方面所达到的艺术效果。对于色彩在文学中的应用的研究是一个独特的新的审美领域。笔者将在众学者对《红字》中的色彩运用的在各种研究的基础上，做一个系统的整理，将对文学的创作与审美都有着重要意义。

Abstract
Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the most prominent novelists of American romanticism in the 19th century. The Scarlet Letter, which is his masterpiece, had been famous at home and abroad since published in 1851. Then, many people began to study this novel from different aspects, but comparatively rare in the chromatics point of view. Actually, it is the usage of colors that creates the great artistic effects and makes the significant contributions to the characterization and emotional expressions. We try to study the usage of colors such as red, black, gray, gold, and the combination of colors, from the angle of colors′ aesthetic effects in literature, and to analyze the colors′ artistic effects of showing the characters′ mental activity, the purpose of the text and the characterization. It is a new special aesthetic field that to study the colors′ usage in literature. In this thesis, we will try to make a systematic collection of some significant research achievements of the past about the usage of colors in The Scarlet Letter by others, which will do good to the literary creation and appreciation of the beauty.
