二十世纪八十至九十年代好莱坞电影华人形象解读

好莱坞作为人们了解各国及其文化的重要途径，对全世界人民的思想、思维和生活习惯有着重要的影响。本文通过对二十世纪八十至九十年代典型的好莱坞华人电影中的华人形象进行分析和梳理，探究此阶段华人形象的发展变化趋势。
首先，本文对不同历史时期好莱坞电影中的华人形象进行了梳理和总结，将其变迁过程大致分为三个阶段：从“黄祸论”时期到两国战争同盟时期再到中美建交时期，不同时期的华人形象各具特点。接着，本文重点对二十世纪八十至九十年代好莱坞电影中极具影响力的典型的华人形象进行分析，归纳和总结出此阶段华人形象变化发展的特征和趋势：一是女性形象有重大突破和转变，即由传统女性形象转变为新女性形象；二是中国功夫明星逐渐活跃于好莱坞电影中，以往懦弱无能的华人形象得以扭转；此外，本文还探究此阶段华人形象的多元化趋势，并尝试着解读电影中各类华人形象的实质。文章的结论部分对全文进行的概括和总结，指出好莱坞电影中的华人形象受导演的主观控制，并且受中国经济地位及中美关系的影响。二十世纪八十至九十年代华人形象呈现复杂化、多元化和正面化的趋势。

Abstract

From 1980s to 1990s, Chinese characters in Hollywood films show a complex, diverse and positive trend. This thesis first presents and analyzes the vicissitude of Chinese characters in Hollywood films, which can be roughly divided into three periods, from the “Yellow Peril” Period to the Alliance Period, and the Communication Period. Then, it focuses on several typical Chinese characters and attempts to explore the characteristics of Chinese characters in this period——The first one is the subverting of Chinese female characters in this period, from the traditional female characters into the new age female ones; the second one is that Chinese Kung Fu stars continually appear in the Hollywood films, which indicates the impression of weakness of Chinese characters tend to be replaced by the strong and powerful one. What’s more, the thesis also explores the diverse trends of the Chinese characters in this period and tries to interpret the nature of Chinese characters in Hollywood films.
