The Application of Situational Language Teaching in Primary School Oral English Teaching
Abstract: Primary English Curriculum Standards has pointed out at the beginning that primary school English teaching aims to stimulate students interest in learning English, encourage students to develop a positive attitude towards English learning so that they can lay the foundation of language sense, good voice and tone basis. Combining the experience that the author had which came from the primary oral English classes with the in-depth theory studying, the author thinks that primary school English teaching should pay full attention to emotional factors, the creation of an atmosphere of love blending with environment to fully mobilize students' initiative, and ultimately train the students' ability to use the language.
In this paper, the author put forward the study on the situational teaching method in primary school oral English teaching by reviewing and thinking English situational teaching theory basis and analyzing the problems exists in the primary school English situational teaching. And the author came to the conclusion that how should the teachers apply the situational teaching method in the primary oral English teaching. In summary, there should have environment full with cross-culture learning. And teachers should guide students to enter into the situations created for the lessons. In the lessons, teachers should promote the emotional factors, in order to cause the resonance of the students with the application of various colorful and meaningful situation teaching activities which aims at guiding the students to participate in the language practice. In order to make the methods more operational, the author enumerated some cases to elaborate and hope this can explore a deeper understanding of the meaning of primary school oral English situational teaching to the teachers and students so that English teachers can better use the situational teaching method in teaching.
The paper is divided into five parts. The first chapter describes the background and significance of this study. Chapter two lists some concepts and the theoretical basis of situational teaching approach.Chapter three need to analyzes the literature and the data the author had collected from the school, and there is an overview of the approaches for the research. In chapter four, the author demonstrates the designed lessons based on the principles, and analyze the examples to perfect the situational teaching approach in primary oral English teaching. Chapter five analyzes the inadequacies of the paper, and puts forward the prospects for future research.
