浅析《献给艾米丽的玫瑰》的哥特艺术

福克纳是美国20世纪最有影响力的作家之一，其作品深刻的反映了美国南方社会的历史，揭露了人性扭曲与异化的问题。本文选取福克纳的短篇小说《献给艾米丽的玫瑰》为研究对象，以哥特小说的特点为背景，从环境描写、人物形象、情节设置和形成原因四方面分析小说主题，并借此探究福克纳对南方文明的眷恋与批判。

ROSE FADING WITH A LONELY HEART——ANALYSIS OF WILLIAM FAULKNER’S A ROSE FOR EMILY

    Abstract: William Faulkner is regarded as one of the most influential American writers in the 20th century, who won the Nobel Prize of literature in 1950. His works deeply reflect the society of southern America, and strongly expose the problem of alienation. Selecting Faulkner’s A Rose for Emily as the object of study, this paper, based on the features of Gothic novel, aims to analyze the theme of the novel from the description of environment and characters, plot setting and the reasons that caused Emily’s miserable life. The result shows Faulkner’s attachment and criticism to southern civilization.
