英汉动物文化内涵和翻译

动物词汇蕴涵着丰富的文化信息，是民族文化必不可少的组成部分。动物词汇不仅反映着人类生活的方方面面，他还渗透到社会生活的各个领域。动物形象在各国日常生活中留下了烙印，形成各国独特的动物文化。因此，大量含有动物形象的词语、习语、熟语等进入英汉语。然而，由于历史和文化的不同，在一种语言中，有些动物词汇内涵，在另一种语言中，无法找到与之完全相同或对等的含义。本文举出许多例子，从以下四个方面分析了英汉动物形象的文化意义：相同动物概念意义和相同或相似的文化内涵；同种动物概念意义和不同的文化内涵；不同的动物概念意义与相同的文化内涵；相同动物概念意义和文化空缺。本文还分析了几种动物文化内涵的翻译方法。

Abstract
Animal words contain abundant cultural information, which is an indispensable component of ethnic culture. It not only reflects the aspects of human life, but also permeates into the fields of social life. The images of animal take root in the daily life of all countries, forming unique animal culture of each nation. Therefore, lots of words, idioms or expressions denoting animals or with vivid animal images have become part of English and Chinese languages. However, on account of different histories and cultures, some connotations of animal words in one language have not paralleled in another language. The paper lists a good set of examples to analyze the four cultural aspects: same animal conceptual meaning and same or similar cultural connotation; same animal conceptual meaning and different animal cultural connotation; different animal conceptual meaning and different cultural connotation; same animal conceptual meaning and cultural vacuum. The thesis also analyzes several translation means of animal cultural connotation.
