中美图书馆使命的对比分析

本文简述了图书馆使命的概念及其意义，通过归纳、分析综合方法来研究我国与美国的图书馆使命。中国图书馆使命研究缓慢，美国的图书馆使命研究较成熟。分析两国公共图书馆使命并归纳出两国公共图书馆使命的相同之处与不同之处，得出美国公共图书馆使命更加重视人性化，体现为两方面：鼓励终生学习；体现社会包容性。再者，对中美高校图书馆使命进行比较分析，发现美国高校图书馆使命的优越性体现为四个方面：具备全球性视野；促进知识探索、创新；构造信息环境与空间；重视使读者终生受益。国内图书馆使命陈述略显不足，应借鉴美国经验重新定位，推进图书馆职业化进程。

ABSTRACT
This paper describes the concept and significance of the mission of the library. Through the induction method, analysis and synthesis method to study the libraries’mission of China and the United States.Study of libraries’mission in China devolopes slowly, but more maturely in USA. Analysis of the mission of the public libraries of the two countries and summarize the similarities and differences of the two countries Public Library mission. Then summed up that the mission of American public library pay more attention to human, reflected in two aspects: to encourage lifelong learning, reflect social inclusion. Furthermore, a comparative analysis the mission of domestic and American university library found that the superiorities of the mission of American university library reflected in four aspects: a global vision, pursuit of knowledge and innovation, to build information environment and space, makes life-long benefit. Slightly less than the mission statement of domestic library, we should learn from American experience to promote the process of localization, and push forward the professionalizing of library in China.
