《木马赢家》中母亲形象分析

 《木马赢家》是戴维•赫伯特•劳伦斯晚年的一部较为出名的短篇小说。劳伦斯创作颇多，是英国现代主义小说的典型代表，其作品突出表现“异化”这一主题，具有强烈的文化批判倾向。在劳伦斯的作品中，母亲总是以一种颠覆传统的形象出现，本文以《木马赢家》为例，分析其作品中的母亲形象，同时结合当时的社会背景和劳伦斯自身的成长经历，探究劳伦斯作品中母亲形象异化的深层原因。研究发现，资本主义工业文明发展改变了社会，使人变成了机器的奴隶。生存的压力和社会精神危机使人们疯狂的追求金钱，贪图物质享受，在这一过程中，很多人都迷失了自己。

Abstract 
The Rocking-Horse Winner as a short story of David Herbert Lawrence was written in his later years. Lawrence is a high-yield writer, one of the most greatest British Modernist writers of the 20th century, who have been regarded as the typical representative of modern literature. His works are against to industrial civilization and highlight alienation. In his works, the image of mother always is contrary to traditional. This paper will analyze the mother image in The Rocking-Horse Winner, and study the deeply reason of the mother’s alienation, from the social origin and the experience of Lawrence. Through the specific and profound analysis, it is discovered that the development of industrial civilization brings the mechanization, destroys human life. People become the slave of machine, and the oppression of living and the social sprite crises lead to people’s crazy pursuit for money and material enjoyment, in the process of which, more and more people lost themselves.
