目前，我国正处于并将长期处于社会主义初级阶段，大学生正处于价值观形成的关键时期。
构建当代大学生的核心价值观是由时代要求和高校思想政治教育发展的内在规律决定的。当代大学生核心价值观应包括：爱国主义、理想信念﹑专业素质三方面的内容。在构建当代大学生核心价值观的过程中要着重处理好个人价值与社会价值、知与行物质与精神的关系，从而使当代大学生为社会的进步作出他们应有的贡献。

ABSTRACT: At present, China is in the primary stage of socialism and will remain so far a long time to come while this period is crucial for college students to form their values. It adheres to the requirement of time and the inherent law of college ideological and political education to build the contemporary college students’ core values. It includes patriotism, ideals and beliefs, and professional qualities. Priority should be given to handling the relations between personal values and social values, knowing and doing as well as material and spirit, so as to urge college students to make contributions to the social progress.
