An Analysis of Marriage in Pride and Prejudice
Abstract
Pride and Prejudice is one of Austin’s great works. There are four marriages in the novel, and by discussing the different marriages and love, the writer shows her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. Mutual affection and respect is the function of a happy marriage. She thinks wealth and status is not the element of an ideal marriage. Austin's concept of marriage has certain practical significance in contemporary society. A Ministry of film and television works which show the marriage of parent’s generation and post-80 tagger waves of discussion and welcome by people, for example, golden wedding and naked wedding. Those reflect the confusion and exploration to the marriage of contemporary.
