随着全球化影响的不断加深，频繁的国际间交流与合作给英语学习者提供理想机遇的同时也带来了挑战——能否利用英语进行成功的交流。而除了交流内容和方式以外，作为人与人之间语言交流的重要技巧之一的礼貌语也是促进有效沟通的关键。因此，本文旨在通过对比分析美国总统奥巴马在竞选获胜后的演讲与中国总理温家宝在剑桥大学的讲话中的礼貌语，加深学习者对英语礼貌语的了解并以此加强其英语沟通的能力。

With the increasing influence of globalization, frequent international communication and cooperation provide English learners with not only ideal opportunities but also bigger challenges, such as how to communicate with others in English successfully. Significantly, apart from contents and methods of communications, politeness, a fundamental communicational skill of interpersonal rhetoric, is essential for the promotion of effective communications. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is to improve English learners’ understanding of politeness and further to develop their English communicational skills by a comparative analysis of politeness used in President Barack Obama’s victory speech and Premier Wen Jiabao’s cambridge speech.
