矛盾修辞的英汉对比与翻译
摘  要

矛盾修辞在日常生活和书面语中很普遍，很多文学作品也常借助表面互相矛盾的词或词组表达客观事实与主观印象的不协调性。
尽管很多学者已经就矛盾修辞的语用功能、修辞效用、中英矛盾修辞差异等展开了广泛研究，但仍然有许多问题有待深究。作者在前人研究的基础上，从矛盾修辞产生的心理学和哲学背景、语义特征、分类、修辞效应和语用功能五个方面概述了矛盾修辞知识，并按照其构成和文体功能对中英矛盾修辞进行对比分析，在此基础上提出了矛盾修辞的三种翻译方法，即直译法、拆分译法和引申法，希望能有助于我们对矛盾修辞的理解和掌握。

A Comparative Study and the Translation of Oxymoron in English and Chinese
 

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, oxymoron becomes more and more popular in our daily life and written language. In literary works, oxymoron is often employed to express the contradiction between outside world and inner world of human beings by means of apparently contradictory words and phrases.
Although most scholars have been doing some researches of oxymoron involving its pragmatic function, rhetoric effects, similarities and dissimilarities of oxymoron in English and Chinese and so on, and have made some great achievements in this field, there are so many problems that need to be further studies because of the complicated feature of oxymoron. Based on the previous survey in this field, the author attempts to provide a series of basic knowledge of oxymoron involving its psychological and philosophical background, its semantic feature, its types, its rhetoric effects and the pragmatic functions. Next, the author elucidates the similarities and differences between English oxymora and Chinese ones in terms of formation and stylistic functions, explores the three translation techniques, viz. literal translation, division, and extension. It is hoped that the research can contribute to the mastering of oxymoron.
